Handheld Flexible Surgical Device

Graduate research aimed at improving accessibility, reducing system complexity, and enhancing safety in pediatric procedures through a novel handheld flexible surgical instrument.

  • Translate clinical needs into engineering requirements — co-designing directly with surgeons and engineers
  • Prioritize usability and sterilization compatibility within live hospital workflows
  • Plan verification & validation via risk-driven design (DFMEA) and experimental testing protocols

Design Philosophy

Engineering for Clinical Realities

Good medical devices are not just technically correct — they survive autoclaves, fit a surgeon's hand after a long shift, and work reliably on the thousandth use. I design from those constraints forward, not backward from the bench.
